Mme Galmiche is one of the most articulate, knowledgeable and passionate instructors I have had the pleasure of knowing. The
course was highly successful in its objective of decentralizing Francophone literature from the French paradigm, with an extremely
diverse array of writers and literary movements presented each week. Under the guidance of Mme Galmiche, we examined the
chosen excerpts in minute detail using a combination of traditional and computational analysis techniques, the latter of which is
especially innovative. The instructor was very mindful as to the equitable distribution of student engagement in class, such that
almost everyone had the opportunity to participate without any particular student unduly dominating the discourse. The extremely
meticulous and constructive body of feedback we receive with each written assignment goes above and beyond what is typically
expected of an instructor and is a testament to Mme Galmiche’s dedication to helping students improve their analytical and
language skills. I feel very lucky to have been in her class and hope to be her student again in the future. (Francophone Litteratures, Fall 2023)

The professor was very kind and understanding toward her students. She paused frequently for questions during her lectures and
she never failed to pause when a student put their hand up so she could answer their question right away, which I really
appreciated. Because of this, a very welcoming and supportive atmosphere was fostered in the classroom, which further
encouraged class participation. Similarly, I liked that there were plenty of opportunities for class discussions and for discussions
among students, which helped to create a more collaborative environment and helped me to know my peers better.
I also appreciate that the professor took time in her lectures to go over class assignments in detail weeks before they were due so
that students could have ample time to complete them and ask questions. (Francophone Litteratures, Fall 2023)

Wow–what a great course this was. I don’t think I have ever had a course that I equally enjoyed and learned from at U of T. Pedagogy
of Prof. Galmiche is high–level and her delivery is confident and easy. (Francophone Cinema, Winter 2023)

Prof Galmiche is an excellent instructor. She explained concepts clearly but still made sure that we all understood before moving on. She encouraged us to participate in class, and practice speaking in French, though we may have doubted ourselves. I enjoyed attending class not only because it was a change from my math- and science-heavy courses, but because of her. I hope she teaches future French courses that I can take. The prof always offered to communicate via email if there were any questions. Many opportunities outside the class were also available (cafe drop in to practice conversational french on different topics). (French Language II, Winter 2017)
